Trauma is the main mortality reason in Ukraine. War conflict, take place in East Ukraine, exerted also great influence upon the lives of about 4 million people. Under such conditions availability effective system of providing trauma care is a key factor for decreasing of traumatism-rate and complexities of traumas. Owing to common initiative, supported by Odessa National Medical University, the process, initiated by regional WHO, of steady raising of potential is in progress. Collaboration with WHO, based on the following initiatives such as first medical care units and mobile hospitals of first medical care, has a high potential concerning increasing of trauma care quality and rehabilitation in region.
The following course of provision with emergent first medical care in case of trauma is aimed at the health care workers, in particular for the workers engaged in service of emergent medical care, physicians, dentists, medical nurses. This training is recognized by Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
Target auditory is a medical staff of hospitals of Zaporizhzhya city and region.
The participants were registered and the opening ceremony took place.
Then, training of Basic Life Support was carried out. It consisted of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation skills with electrical defibrillation use in adults and juvenile of different age. It also included interactive lecture part, watching and processing of video-materials, training session with mannequins. After finishing the training all the participants were granted with certificated of international standard on BLS skills, the certificate validity term is two years. Based on the results of training healthcare specialists stated the topicality and importance of received knowledge.
On following three days the training of TTT (Trauma Team Training) has been carried out.
Visitors from Zaporizhzhya have taken a course of lectures with video-presentations which lasted till noon: the primary assessment and organization of patients under mass affections according to the grade of complexity of their trauma; permeability of respiratory tract; respiration; blood circulation(shock). They fulfilled the set of training classes on provision of CPR under different conditions, improved mastership of safe transportation of the injured including the aspect of probability of the trauma of spine and abdominal thrust (Heimlich maneuver).
In the afternoon the participants of the training took a lecture in the topic "The Group Approach to the Treatment of the Wound” and training the answering practical skills. The highly estimated the form of the practical class, consisting of personal evaluation of the correctness of the fulfilled skill and estimation of work of the colleagues. .
Day took its start for the participants from taking lectures about head trauma, chest and abdomen trauma. The audience actively put questions and participated in discussions, shared their experience. During the third Day the course attendants trained the following practical skills: endotracheal intubation, inserting of pleural drain tube and conicotomy. The participants gave a good reference about the work with lay figures, enabled for multiply training in carrying out of skills upon highly realistic conditions.
The evaluation of trauma complexity was continued as well as the procedure of providing with emergent aids for injured under mass affections .
On the fourth Day the students of the course took lectures in the following topics: “The Burns”, “The Extremities Traumas”, “The Anesthesia”, “The Trauma Registration”, “Prevention of catalepsy ” and “The Transportation of the Injured”. The practical lessons were dedicated to polyorganic trauma, measures in case of injury of two and more systems of organs of the patient, carrying out of venesection.
After finishing the training all the trained were granted with corresponding certificates, valid for three years. Training exercises, maximally adapted to the real conditions, were aimed at the preparation of team-participants for work under extreme conditions, possible to run across in real life. The teams trained the practical skills using Centre simulation equipment of different realistic stages and necessary medical equipment, where each member of the team had an opportunity to extend his knowledge and practical experience.
