dc.description.abstract The results of surgical treatment of 272 patients with the phenomena of mechanical jaundice caused by the pathology of the head of the pancreas were analyzed. The cancer of the head of the pancreas is verified in 174 (63.9%) of patients, Vater’s ampule cancer in 20 (7.4%), cancer of the choledoch distal third in 24 (8.8%) and chronic pseudotumorous pancreatitis 54 (19.9%) of patients. Depending on the method of preparation for surgical treatment, the patients were divided into two groups: the main group consisted of 112 patients, who were prepared according to the developed algorithm, and in the control group (160 patients) – according to generally accepted standards. en
