The article is devoted to problems and ways of improving the effectiveness
of medical training in higher education institutions of Ukraine. The purpose of the study is
distance learning in medical institutions of higher education in the conditions of the energy
crisis. It is noted that the war in Ukraine also had a significant impact on the domestic system
of higher education and required rapid adaptation to new conditions. Virtual learning has
become a reality, and independent work of students and effective interaction between the
teacher and students have become the main challenges of today. Due to security restrictions,
the vast majority of higher education institutions in Ukraine have switched to distance
education, which has both its advantages and disadvantages. However, in such conditions, distance learning became an important addition to traditional education, which in war
conditions became either impossible at all or significantly complicated. It is noted that a
serious challenge for the education system of Ukraine in general, and medical education in
particular, was the disruption of electricity and communication caused by Russian attacks on
critical infrastructure facilities. Electricity restrictions made it difficult for learners and
teachers to access digital resources such as online libraries and databases, which in turn
limited learners' ability to receive an education. The traditional approach to independent
work as the leading form of asynchronous learning is also under threat. Currently, the light
situation has normalized, and students can once again receive education in a distance format.
However, understanding the seriousness of the situation, institutions of higher education
must be prepared for various scenarios in the electricity situation, in particular for its
complete shutdown.
